Slipknot guitarist Jim Root recently suffered a burst appendix, which will force him to miss some dates on this summer's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival tour. The band issued the following statement prior to the first show on Saturday, June 30:

"We’re sorry to announce that our brother, Jim Root, will not be performing with us at Mayhem today in San Bernardino due to serious health issues. Jim has been seriously sick for the past two weeks and went to the hospital last week where he was advised that his appendix burst a couple weeks before and that it could have been life threatening. Jim is at home recovering and is awaiting surgery to have pieces of his appendix removed and hopes to join the tour as soon as he is able.

"Slipknot will continue to headline the Mayhem Festival and all other shows. We refuse to let our fans down and will not miss a single date. We will miss Jim greatly and our thoughts are with him. Jim sends his love to each and every one of our fans.

The singer unveiled in a series of tweets, "I promised today you’d get the explanation to HoGaB. Well, today that’s exactly what you get … The new Stone Sour album is a two-part double concept album called ‘House of Gold and Bones’ (HoGaB), parts 1 and 2. Part 1 will drop in Oct. ’12. Part 2 will drop next year. 24 songs, 12 on each disc."

He went on to add, "Each disc will include one half of the story – for lyrics, you’ll have to [visit] our site. Once I lock in the company who will help me put it together, there will be a comic book as well. Song titles include ‘Absolute Zero,’ ‘RU486,’ ‘A Rumor of Skin,’ and ‘Taciturn.’ Very excited for everyone to hear it! Stay tuned! #HoGaBoctober12″

Stone Sour worked with producer David Bottrill on the disc, and recruited Rachel Bolan of Skid Row fame to play bass on the disc in place of former member Shawn Economaki.

The Stone Sour news comes as part of a big day for Taylor. His other band, Slipknot, finally revealed the details of their ‘Antennas to Hell‘ greatest hits collection. The set arrives July 24, and comes in the midst of their headlining run on the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival. The band will finish out the summer with their own two-date, two-location Knotfest.

The band will release Antennas to Hell, a "best of" collection documenting its inimitable career, on July 24. The album is scheduled to be released via Roadrunner Records while the band is spending its summer as the main attraction of the 2012 edition of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, as well as curating and headlining the inaugural year of their very own festival, Knotfest. For all Slipknot tour dates, go here.

The time is right for a "best of" collection from the band, as it captures the first chapter of Slipknot – a chapter where they’ve gone from unknown to the one of the biggest rock bands in the world — all on their own terms.

This summer’s Mayhem and Knotfest outings celebrate the band and the life of late bassist Paul Gray, and will serve as ‘the end of the beginning’ for Slipknot – this summer’s performances will be the fan’s last chance to see them as they are now. Of course the band will continue- but just as inevitable with Slipknot, is the fact that the band will evolve – and the future is unwritten. Antennas to Hell serves as a companion to that celebration. The two-disc version of Antennas to Hell includes a bonus live CD that captures the band’s 2009 performance at the legendary Download Festival in the U.K. The live disc showcases the band playing a set of career spanning classics in front of 80,000 rabid fans. The journey from – "(sic)" – track 1 on their self-titled debut - to "Snuff" – the haunting No. 1 rock track from 2008’s All Hope Is Gone – proves that. The album features fan favorites, live classics and well-known radio hits.

Furthering the immersion in the band’s culture, this summer will see the release of the band’s first ever mobile application, Wear the Mask. Part mask builder, part social connector for fans, and 100% Slipknot in its look and execution, the app brings the Slipknot mindset into previously uncharted territory – the mobile devices of fans worldwide. Wear the Mask will be released simultaneously with Antennas to Hell.

A South Florida woman was arrested for exposing herself on a local beach. Tracy Mabb was charged with exposing her private parts in public. By the looks of her mug shot, she was very upset by this... or they took the photo in the middle of a yawn.

Deuce, the co-founder and former member of the rock-rap group Hollywood Undead, was allegedly attacked by his former bandmates after a performance at the nightclub Angels & Kings on May 25.

According to a new report on TMZ, the singer left the club and his former bandmates were "lying in wait" for him. The TMZ report includes the following details about the ousted singer and the night in question: "Deuce claims when they spotted him, they jumped him and went to town — punching, kicking and stomping on him."

Deuce alleges he was badly hurt and subsequently reported it to authorities. He pointed out former bandmates Dylan "Funny Man" Alvarez and Jorel "J-Dog" Decker as the primary attackers.

According to Deuce, there were also two men videotaping the attack.

Deuce plans to sue and has hired lawyer Donald Karpel.

As of right now, no one from the Hollywood Undead camp has offered a comment on the accusations.

Deuce has not been a member of Hollywood Undead since early 2010 when he was voted out of the band which doesn’t offer much explanation on the timing of the attack other than the seemingly bad blood between the two camps.

Deuce released his solo disc ‘Nine Lives‘ on April 24 and Hollywood Undead’s last release was 2011′s ‘American Tragedy.’

10 Years have set a July 31st release date for their new studio album, Minus The Machine on PALEHORSE RECORDS/ILG (WMG).

The first single, "Backlash," is set for release on June 19th via iTunes and will hit radio on the same day.

"We wanted to create an album that has no boundaries," 10 Years frontman Jesse Hasek explains the decision to release Minus The Machine independently. "When you feel like you’re being told to go through motions and jump through hoops, it takes the heart out of it. It’s better to do what comes naturally and then figure out the after-effect."
