10 Years have set a July 31st release date for their new studio album, Minus The Machine on PALEHORSE RECORDS/ILG (WMG).
The first single, "Backlash," is set for release on June 19th via iTunes and will hit radio on the same day.
"We wanted to create an album that has no boundaries," 10 Years frontman Jesse Hasek explains the decision to release Minus The Machine independently. "When you feel like you’re being told to go through motions and jump through hoops, it takes the heart out of it. It’s better to do what comes naturally and then figure out the after-effect."
Foo Fighters Frontman Dave Grohl Directing 'Sound City' Studio Doc
Though fans of rock will know Dave Grohl as the frontman for Foo Fighters and the drummer for Nirvana, the musician has also had a couple big screen roles in the form of Satan in Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny and as Animool, the knock-off Animal from The Moopets in last year's The Muppets. Well, now the musician is going behind the camera for a new documentary taking a look at Sound City, the iconic recording studio in Van Nuys, California where talents like Rage Against the Machine, Fleetwood Mac, Tomy Petty, Neil Young, Nirvana and more recorded some of their most revered music there.
Grohl's history with the studio goes back to the 1991 recording of Nirvana's album Nevermind (you know, the one with the swimming, naked baby) and he told Variety, "Sound City is a film about America's greatest unsung recording studio. Deep in California's sun-burnt San Fernando Valley, it was the birthplace of legend. It was witness to history." It's a bit hyperbolic, but with that list of talent, there's no doubt it has an iconic place in musical history. And for film fans, it's important to note that The Cove and The Tillman Story writer Mark Monroe is behind the documentary, so this should be a top notch film that will include interviews with the artists and producers, focus on the albums recorded there, and "the human element of music in an age of technology and feature performances from many of the artists." After enjoying music-centric documentaries like It Might Get Loud recently, count me in.
Slipknot Demoing For New Album and Plan Mysterious Announcement
Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has been teasing fans via Twitter about #HoGaB and the countdown to when the mystery will be solved. With yesterday's tease he also gave fans an update about a forthcoming greatest hits album and that the band is working on new demos. Here is what he wrote:
"11 days till the meaning of HoGaB is revealed. And I believe 7.17.12 is when the Slipknot greatest hits album drops."
Soon after he Tweeted, "To anyone asking, Slipknot is not currently working on an album. Yet. We are putting together demos, but we're not recording. Yet."

Memorial Day is on Monday, which hopefully means you get a three-day weekend. But if you haven't planned anything yet, we've got four date ideas you can do on the fly . . .
1. Go On a Photography Expedition. Pick a theme . . . like classic cars or old men in Speedos . . . and head out to different places around town to take photos of each other with as many theme items as you can find.
2.Go Geocaching. It's basically a high-tech treasure hunt, and all you need is a GPS device, like a smartphone. Then you go to the website Geocaching.com to get the GPS coordinates of a 'geocache'.
3. Travel the 'World'. Since you're not actually travelling the globe this weekend, you can improvise by hitting as many different foreign foods as possible. Try to see how many countries you can knock off before you go back to tuna-mac on Tuesday.
4.Do Something Patriotic. Even though we all use Memorial Day to mark the start of summer vacation season, don't forget about the REAL reason for it . . . remembering the men and women who died serving in our military.

Possible Pantera reunion with Zakk Wylde!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Possible Pantera reunion with Zakk Wylde
Although stating that Pantera should leave the 14 years they had together untouched by a partial reunion, drummer Vinnie Paul recently stated that if the band were to come together once again, Zakk Wylde would be the only man who can fill the spot of "Dimebag" Darrell. "I mean, [Zakk] and my brother were so tight," began Paul. "If [a Pantera reunion] ever were to happen, [Zakk] would be the guy [to step in for Dimebag]." Vinnie Paul isn't the only Pantera member who spoke about the possibility of Zakk Wylde manning guitar duties. Frontman Phil Anselmo, who recently spoke to us about his love for Dimebag, responded to Vinnie Paul's comments during an interview. "That is an interesting question, if anything like that would ever possibly happen," says Anselmo. "Vince and I would have to sit in the same room, hash out whatever differences that we have, and as far as Zakk Wylde goes, I am not too sold on that 'cause we have to hash some crap out too. That day has not come yet, and until that day comes, I can comment further on that, but till then it is just talk. It would be rough not to see Dimebag on stage to my left, I would feel naked."
